Seine zumeist großformatigen Gemälde mit horizontal geschichteten Farbflächen auf monochromem Grund haben sich als Inbegriff klassischer Bilder der Moderne in unser Bildgedächtnis eingeprägt. Die Publikation beleuchtet anhand von zentralen Werkgruppen aus allen Schaffensphasen des Künstlers - darunter der »Rothko Room« der Phillips Collection und die »Harvard Murals« der Harvard University - das Bestreben Rothkos, eine gesteigerte Beziehung zwischen Bild und Betrachter zu erreichen. Bereits in den frühen fünfziger Jahren grenzt sich der Künstler durch seinen expliziten Anspruch, die Präsentation seiner Bilder zu kontrollieren, vom damaligen Kunstbetrieb ab. Eine dichte Hängung der Bilder in relativ kleinen Räumen, eine gedämpfte Beleuchtung und übergroße Bildformate sollten ein unmittelbares Erleben sicherstellen - ein Konzept, das mit der »Rothko Chapel« in Houston wohl seinen berühmtesten und gültigen Ausdruck gefunden hat. (Englische Ausgabe ISBN 978-3-7757-1027-5) Zum Künstler: Mark Rothko, eigentlich Marcus Rothkowitz (Dwinsk 1903-1970 New York). 1910 Übersiedlung nach Oregon. 1921-1923 Studium an der Yale University, New Haven, 1924-1929 an der Art Students League in New York. 1935 Mitbegründer der expressionistischen Künstlergruppe »The Ten«, 1949 Gründungsmitglied der Vereinigung »Subject of the Artist School«. 1970 nimmt sich Rothko in New York das Leben. Very useful

Great Room Divider

This product is a great room divider that decent quality and worth the price tag. The look is sleek and fits seamlessly into any room without complaint. The assembly was easy to follow and the quality is long lasting. Not only that, I need it as my sons share a room and we’re looking for some privacy. The divider is able to extend across a decently large area really divide the room as it has 4 panels.
